Industrial laundry company Clewor Oy reduces its carbon dioxide emissions and switches to emission-free steam production. According to the preliminary schedule, Elstor Oy will deliver the power-to-heat heat storage system to Clewor in February 2026.
The system produces heat and steam cost-effectively with renewable electrical energy, utilizing the cheapest electricity prices of the day.
The investment is a significant step in Clewor’s responsibility strategy. With the new technology, Clewor ensures an emission-free production process in terms of heat and steam production, when CO2 and particle emissions will be 0% due to the investment.
– After the investment has been realized, we are the only privately owned production facility in our industry that can produce its services emission-free in terms of steam production, says Annastina Liedes, Clewor’s business manager.
By operating responsibly in accordance with environmental values, Clewor generates even more value for both customers and partners.
— Continuous development of responsible business is important to us both from the point of view of strategy, values and also our valid certificates, Liedes concludes.
Elstor Oy is satisfied with this 9th – and this year’s 5th – delivery contract in the company’s history. Producing industrial high-temperature heat and steam in an emission-free and cost-effective manner usually requires the introduction of just such an electrically operated high-temperature storage. Finland as a country – and we as Elstor Oy as a company – are among the top in the world in terms of the number of these implementations, says Elstor Oy CEO Kari Suninen.
